INTERNAL
Personality Hooboy where do I even start with this train wreck of a human being.
Under most circumstances August is a reasonable person – he’s calm & relatively collected, and would prefer to work things out verbally if it’s a potential option. However that said he has a particular nasty temper [thanks Vallory], and can also have a particularly short fuse - especially if you cross across several trigger points for it – liars and betrayers, for example. It is capable of burning out after a time, though the damage that can be caused during it can be rather… significant to all parties involved, including himself.
Underestimating him generally is a bad idea. He liked to play of the whole ‘Pandorans are dumb as a brick’ sentiment that most offworlders hold and let him think he’s unable to work himself out of a metaphorical box, though this is far far from what the case indeed is. The man is smart as a fox and incredibly crafty, though this cunning has come back to bite him in the ass in prior times with plans that have gone haywire.
August also genuinely struggles with forgiveness. The man is definitely capable of holding a significant grudge towards the people who have crossed him, and it takes considerable work for him to come back around on the side of someone who he felt has faulted him.
That said he is also incredibly trusting on his own gut survival instincts, and will listen to them above anyone and anything else.
Likes His bar, successful plans, money, power. Vallory because despite her being an abusive sack of crap towards him his entire life that IS his ma and he does love her.
Dislikes Vallory, liars, people who get in his way & impede his plans, GORTYS, Hyperion in general. This could go on. We probably don't want it to go on we'll be here all day.
Fears Vallory & failure.
CHARACTER WHEREABOUTS
Two years seems like such a short period of time but here on Pandora it’s definitely long enough, especially when you don’t know when your supposed untimely demise might be lurking around the metaphorical, or quite literal in this case, corner. After his mother’s death at the hands of The Traveler August took some short weeks to piece things back together before he went out of the way to secure what assets [both monetary and human] that were left, working hard to establish himself in her place as a crime lord to a crumbled, crippled empire.
Once that was established he reached out to various factions across Pandora [both ones she’d slighted and ones she was on relatively reasonable terms with] in order to further secure his power base. He has yet to contact the Crimson Raiders in Sanctuary, nor has reached out towards any of the people he’d met two years prior that had almost quite literally turned his life relatively upside down. That lattermost line is open however.
While this was going on he continued to maintain his bar the Purple Skag, continuing to use it as a front for his work, as well as legitimately enjoying the change of pace that it often provides.
